NYE Party round-up

The festive season is upon us, with Christmas a few days away chances are your plans are set, but do you know what you’re doing for New Year’s Eve yet? If not, here are a few special suggestions to hail in 2018 in style in some of the major cities; Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.

Cape Town

Cape Town Comedy Club

If it’s been a tough year and you think you deserve a spoil ushering in the New Year with laughs and bubbly, then you may want to consider Cape Town Comedy Club’s New Year’s Eve special.

Doors open at 6pm and the dress code is strictly smart. Guests will receive a welcome drink on arrival and a 4-course meal that is perfectly paired with great wine. In addition, glasses of champagne will be handed out closer to the countdown.

Dine at Pepernero

If good food is what you’re about Pepernero’s New Year’s Eve special may be just the treat for you. Enjoy oysters, and then beef tartare, beef fillet and white chocolate panna cotta against the backdrop of this beautiful seaside restaurant.

HQ’s NYE celebration

New Year’s Eve is one of the few occasions where you get to play dress up and not be side-eyed. In this vein, HQ Restaurant is giving you the opportunity to do just that as they host a New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball.

Their DJs will start spinning the decks from 9pm and HQ will continue celebrating into the early hours of 2018.

Tickets include complimentary canapés upon arrival, a welcome cocktail and a 3-course meal. The dress code is strictly black venetian attire which includes a mask.

Towers Restaurant special

Toast to the old and new year with a five-course dinner at Towers Restaurant. Dishes like crayfish bisque, four hour smoked Norwegian salmon, lamb shoulder and pineapple parfait, will be enjoyed. A complimentary welcome drink is included.

Mother City Camp-Out

For the more adventurous, Cape Town and Greenpop have partnered for the second year to create a unique inner-city camping experience. Tucked away in the city you gain access to city, mountain and ocean views.

Campers can enjoy performances by local artists, an open-air cinema and screening night, yoga, music, and excursions such as hikes and nature walks. In addition, there will be daily free activities, like hiking Lions Head or watching the sunset at Signal Hill to make your stay unforgettable, and meet new friends.

Johannesburg

Vivace Restaurant

A five-course dinner with live entertainment will be served at the lovely Vivace Restaurant at The Radisson. Be treated to starters of braised short-rib arancini, mains of grilled loin of lamb with roasted garlic and mushroom stuffing, and desserts of white chocolate mousse with chocolate brownie soil and berry compote.

Chicago’s Piano bar

Bring you appetite for great cuisine, delicious wines, and your mask as Chicago’s hosts their version of a masquerade ball. After dark, the DJ duo will be spinning the best tunes to keep you on your feet all night long.

GiniJozi Long Table Dinner

Enjoy a long-table dinner, involving a food and gin pairing experience at Hangout Jozi on 30 December. The event will run from 7-10pm. Each gin and tonic is perfectly paired with a menu item, such as feta and olive wrapped in spinach leaves with sweet potato chips, trout fish on a bed of greens, braaied chicken with coleslaw, and blue-cheese sauced and red velvet cake.

Wine Not New Years

Visit this fun pop-up bar and cash in on premium beers, foods and, not forgetting, copious amounts of great wine. This all coupled with finger-licking food and a guaranteed vibe.

TILT NYE 2018 with FRESH

Party, party, party! If dancing the night away to some of South Africa’s DJ bests is up your alley, then TILT is for you. With DJ Fresh headlining, it is bound to be a party like no other.
